We are looking for an exceptional Art Prepress Manager to support our pre-production proofing operations. The ideal candidate is a technical and organized self-starter who brings deep operations and leadership experiences to the preproduction team. The individual works to ensure high levels of operational efficiency and drives the adoption of best practices in tools and technology. This role is crucial for maintaining our commitment to exceptional quality, service, and supporting our growth as a $30M direct-to-consumer company.

The Art Prepress Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring that all customer-supplied artwork is accurately and efficiently transformed into high-quality, press-ready files. This individual leads a team of Graphic Production Artists and serves as a strategic driver of innovation, automation, and continuous improvement across the prepress and print production process.

As the Art Prepress Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the art department, balancing team management, technology adoption, and quality assurance. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to solve production challenges, enhance customer satisfaction, and implement forward-thinking strategies that scale with business needs. Your technical expertise, analytical skills, and creative insight will help shape the future of prepress operations and ensure excellence at every step.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of Graphic Productions Artists to convert customer supplied files into press ready proofs
  • Technology Utilization: Act as key stakeholder for Art technology strategy, adoption and UAT
  • Strategy Development: Introduce, test, and implement evolving methods for automation, emerging print technology and process improvement across direct and downstream teams
  • Performance Monitoring: Handle employee performance reviews, KPI monitoring, disciplinary issues and vacation schedules
  • Issue Resolution: Collaborate cross functionally to resolve common customer and production issues
  • Reporting: Use internal data sets to create reports and dashboards to track key business metrics
  • Training and Development : Develop and update department SOPs; conduct and measure training and adoption
  • Creative Role : Provide file review, analysis and feedback to customers to ensure the successful submission of content; support complex issues as required

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Arts, Printing Engineering or a related field preferred
  • Proven Experience (7+ years) in a Creative, Prepress or Manufacturing leadership role
  • Experience leading high-performing teams, fostering accountability, mentorship, and career growth in a collaborative, feedback-rich culture
  • Skilled in using data to identify bottlenecks, assess training needs, and implement process improvements that elevate both team efficiency and quality
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while coaching others to do the same
  • Expert level proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with AI automation tools for print production (Enfocus Switch, PitStop, Esko)
  • Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze workflow and performance metrics to drive informed decisions and continuous improvement within a production or creative environment
  • Proven track record of leveraging data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel) to create actionable dashboards and performance reports
  • Customer-focused mindset, ability to work independently with a proactive approach to improving processes
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while coaching others to do the same
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong understanding of print production processes preferred

Position Schedule

  • Full-time, exempt role
  • Hybrid work environment40 hours/week: Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm MST, with flexibility to work normal business hours based on business needs

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment (e.g., keyboard, mouse, phone)
  • Visual acuity to read and produce printed and digital documents
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15-20 pounds (e.g., office supplies, sample materials, marketing displays)
  • Ability to move about the office or attend meetings in various areas of the building
  • Clear verbal communication, in person and via phone or video conferencing
  • Ability to safely navigate through a light industrial environment for collaboration with production teams (PPE not typically required)
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching
