Assistant Director and Early Childhood Teacher

HGL ART , an innovative preschool in New York, NY, that integrates art and language immersion for children ages 2-5, seeks a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Part-Time/Full-Time Assistant Director and Early Childhood Teacher . This unique position offers the opportunity to support the administrative functions of our preschool while also directly engaging with young children to age-appropriate learning experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for early childhood education, strong organizational and communication skills, a love for fostering creativity in young learners, and hold the required New York State Early Childhood Certification.
Responsibilities:
Assistant Director (Approximately 40% of Responsibilities):
- Assist the Director in the day-to-day operations of the preschool, ensuring a smooth and efficient learning environment.
- Support with administrative tasks, including managing student records, communicating with parents, and coordinating schedules.
- Help to maintain a safe, clean, and organized school environment.
- Collaborate with the Director and teaching staff on program development and implementation.
- Assist with special events and activities, such parent gatherings.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and licensing requirements.
Early Childhood Instructor (Approximately 60% of Responsibilities):
- Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities for children ages 2-5, fostering their creativity, fine motor skills, and language development.
- Lead small group and individual instruction, providing guidance and encouragement to young learners.
- Integrate art activities with other areas of the curriculum, such as language immersion, literacy, and math.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment where children feel safe to explore and express themselves.
- Observe and document children's progress, providing feedback to parents as needed.
- Maintain a well-stocked and organized art studio, ensuring the availability of materials and supplies.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- New York State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth - Grade 2) required.
- Experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and relevant software applications.
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet all licensing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with language immersion programs.
- Familiarity with Reggio Emilia or other child-centered approaches to learning.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Schedule:
20hr-40hr per week
