Role Overview :
The Dispute Resolution Team, Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), is responsible for ensuring that the Indiana Department of Education (Department) provides parents, schools, and interested entities with the full range of special education dispute resolution required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).The complaint investigator is responsible for: (1) investigating special education complaints pursuant to 511 IAC 7-45-1; (2) preparing and issuing complaint investigation reports; (3) assisting in the development of training materials and conducting training for mediators and independent hearing officers; (4) developing, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures to ensure that special education dispute resolution procedures for public schools, parents, and the department are consistent with federal and state laws; (5) providing guidance documents concerning the implementation of the IDEA; and (6) providing technical assistance and guidance to internal and external constituents on the interpretation and implementation of federal and state special education requirements. Further, the incumbent assists the department and the Office of Special Education (OSE) with legal research and ensures that guidance documents are in compliance with federal and state law.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $85,020.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
