Our customer, the Best Choice in the utility construction business is currently hiring for entry-level & experienced, onsite Designers in the Chesapeake and Hampton, VA area . This is an office based position, and the Designer will be responsible for drafting designs for utility and telecommunications construction projects. This is a 6 month contract opportunity with an opportunity for extension or full time employment.

The Designer will be responsible for working closely with the engineering, right of way, land survey and permitting staff to map drafting, survey project support and the data and legal aspects of survey operations.

The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that are required for this job include:

Responsibilities:

• Ability to synthesize information and create designs
• Complete markups
• Report graphics preparation
• Set-up and prepare plans
• Provide assistance with submittals
• Maintain QA/QC processes and requirements

Education and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelors/ Associates Degree Preferred.
• AutoCAD knowledge is a must.
• Experience with telecommunications design and/or utility design a plus

Job Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Proficiency using a computer and common professional programs (ex. Office 365)
• One year of recent professional work experience using AutoCAD or recently graduated from an AutoCAD-focused educational program
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay rate: $27/hr + DOE
• Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision Coverage, Supplemental Insurance through Aflac, & 401k plan.
