Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commissioning Agent to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that building systems are designed, installed, tested, and maintained according to the owner's operational requirements. You will work closely with project stakeholders including owners, designers, contractors, and facility personnel to deliver high-performance buildings and successful project outcomes. This role is working on mostly federal projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate commissioning activities from pre-design through post-occupancy phases.
  • Review design documents for compliance with the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR).
  • Develop and manage Commissioning Plans, Specifications, and Schedules.
  • Perform site visits and inspections to observe system installation and verify proper implementation.
  • Execute functional performance testing for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
  • Identify issues, track deficiencies, and coordinate resolution with project teams.
  • Review submittals, O&M manuals, and training documentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports and documentation.
  • Participate in meetings with owners, contractors, and consultants to communicate progress and findings.
  • Support sustainability and energy efficiency goals, including LEED or other green building certification processes when applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience in building commissioning or related field.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
  • Experience with commissioning procedures, standards, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with codes, guidelines, and protocols such as ASHRAE, LEED, and NEBB.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Professional certifications such as CxA, CCP, PE, or LEED AP are strongly preferred.
