Job Description

Join the iconic Santa Monica Proper Hotel, where historic charm meets contemporary luxury in the heart of Santa Monica. As a seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, our 267-room boutique hotel showcases stunning interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, tantalizing dining options by local culinary stars, and a show-stopping rooftop lounge and swimming pool. With 16,000 square feet of sophisticated meeting and event space, we create unforgettable experiences for our guests.

We are seeking an experienced, strategic Director of Corporate and Leisure Sales to join our elite sales team and drive individual guest revenue while cultivating relationships with corporate accounts, travel partners, and luxury market segments.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to secure new corporate and leisure accounts and retain existing ones
  • Conduct in-depth research to identify and qualify new business opportunities
  • Craft compelling proposals and presentations that highlight the unique value proposition of Santa Monica Proper for corporate travelers
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with corporate clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate travel managers, travel management companies, and travel advisors
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of assigned corporate and leisure accounts
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify new business opportunities and develop winning sales strategies
  • Exceed assigned revenue targets through effective prospecting, relationship management, and strategic negotiations
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Events, Operations) to ensure a seamless experience for corporate clients and their travelers

Qualification Standards 

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving revenue goals
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership experience in handling VIP guests
  • Proficiency in computer programs 
  • Demonstrated accountability
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service

 

Education 

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training
  • College graduate preferred, with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major

Experience 

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in corporate travel sales within the hospitality industry in leadership role

Physical Demands 

  • Standing, sitting, and walking are required throughout the shift for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 lbs.

Work Environment 

  • Work may be performed in Front Office and Back Office areas, Guest Rooms, and all Public Areas and Outlets

Grooming 

  • All colleagues must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Proper’s uniform and appearance guidelines

Base Salary: $90,000-120,000
