JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Advanced Advertising Political Sales is responsible for managing existing and generating new CTV (managed service streaming & programmatic) political revenue across the entire Spectrum Reach footprint. This role will report directly to the VP, Political Strategy & Sales and will work closely with the Political Sales, Advanced Advertising, National Multi-Market & Local Sales, SR Operations, Programmatic, Revenue Support, Yield & Ampersand Political Sales teams.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exceed Political Spectrum CTV (Managed Service & Programmatic) Streaming Sales Goals
- Lead, coach, and support a team of Political Sales Managers to achieve and exceed Political CTV streaming sales goals
- Motivate Ampersand and Spectrum Political sales teams to deliver required category revenue goals
- Subject matter expert in the Political CTV marketplace, sales strategy and execution with a strong focus on CTV and cross-platform advertising & data solutions
- Build and leverage strategic relationships with the key Political Media buying firms, Digital media buying firms and Direct clients (PACs & Parties) in Wash DC in key POL customer footprints (CA, OH, TX, etc.) to drive revenue growth (& share) with the marketplace
- Solicit prospective client direct accounts, and their agencies
- Serve as the lead with the Open Market DSPs/SSPs (TTD, Magnite, Freewheel, Basis, StackAdapt, etc.) in offering competitive pricing, optimize streaming inventory to maximize revenue
- Coach and develop the Political Advanced Advertising Sales Manager on all aspects of the business
- Educate and support the Spectrum & Ampersand Political Sales teams regarding the Spectrum CTV sales value proposition, product differentiators and position in the video ecosystem to influence further participation with our customers and clients
- Partner with the SR and Ampersand Political Sales teams to secure Direct Political Programmatic agreements with the Political Media firms, CTV/Digital firms and Direct Clients.
- Develop and manage a go-to-market plan to drive sales and educate the political marketplace on Spectrum Reach’s CTV product capabilities. On-going revenue generating responsibilities to include sales presentations & collateral, client prospecting and support of Spectrum Reach & Ampersand sales teams.
- Execute all functions of sales management, including quarterly and annual sales planning, weekly and monthly forecasting, share performance, customer care schedule fulfillment and identifying opportunities to meet and exceed revenue goals.
- Develop and maintain productive and positive relationships across management and cross- functional partners: National Multi-Market & Local Sales, Programmatic, Operations, Data, Yield, Marketing, Product, Legal, and Finance.
- Serve as an industry expert on Spectrum Reach’s Advanced Advertising portfolio, the addressable and advanced TV marketplace, category trends, emerging technology, and media platforms including, but not limited to television, streaming, and broadband.
- Participate in key Political industry conferences and events including the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) and Campaign & Elections (C&E).
- Become a subject matter expert on political data and voter files to include Spectrum Reach’s subscription to L2 as well as other key industry providers (i.e., Blockgraph, Data Trust, LiveRamp, Target Smart).
- Monitor key industry media outlets and trade publications (i.e., The Cook Report, Axios, Politico, The Hill, National Review, FiveThirtyEight, RealClearPolitics, Ballotpedia) to stay current on key races and competitiveness within the Spectrum Reach footprint.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- 7+ years of leadership experience with proven track record of leading media sales teams to increasing levels of performance.
- 10+ years national sales experience with proven track record of building customer partnerships and achieving sales budgets with at least 8 years of Political Sales experience.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience with a proven track record of leading a political sales team.
- Deep relationships with the Political Marketplace of customers (Media Firms, Digital Media Firms & Direct Clients)
- Strong sales leader with a passion to win, eliminate roadblocks and demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills.
- Deep understanding of multi-screen advertising campaigns including television, digital media, data informed advertising, with a specific knowledge of CTV (Managed service & programmatic) media sales.
- Direct experience collaborating with cross functional teams including Sales, Revenue Support, Operations, Product, and Marketing.
- In depth knowledge of data, analytics, addressable ad technology and previous experience incorporating them into sales strategies.
- Experience reviewing ad campaign performance metrics to inform on and improve future offerings.
- Understanding of third-party ad servers, tags, and video ad serving concepts.
- Strong organizational skills: must be detail-oriented and have a proven history of managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Travel required.
- Valid driver´s license, satisfactory driving record within Company required standards, and auto insurance.
