Job Description

Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in supporting the execution of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects with a focus on substations, transmission lines, battery energy storage systems, and renewable energy infrastructure. This position is responsible for contributing to all phases of engineering development, from design and procurement support to implementation and technical compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support external engineering efforts, providing technical guidance aligned with project requirements, schedules, and budgets.
  • Ensure constructability, safety, and compliance with technical specifications, regulatory standards, and project constraints.
  • Lead electrical engineering efforts, including calculations (up to 30%), and support estimating during the bidding process.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of quotations and supplier proposals to support procurement.
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
  • Develop and revise CAD drawings to support construction and procurement activities.
  • Ensure on-site quality control of engineering and electrical work.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to develop technical procedures, checklists, and validation forms.
  • Assess new and existing technologies and suppliers for potential integration into projects.
  • Prepare and maintain project-specific engineering documents, including design plans, specifications, and change documentation, in accordance with customer procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering leads, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely and accurate delivery of design outputs.

Qualifications:

We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer with a strong foundation in high-voltage substation design and a passion for delivering quality work in the utility or electrical construction industry.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within a utility or electrical construction firm
  • Specialized experience in High Voltage Substation Design (69 kV and above) , including:
  • Layouts and sections
  • Medium and high voltage equipment details
  • Ground grid calculations, layouts, and details
  • Protection & Control (P&C) design: schematics, single-line and three-line diagrams
  • Wiring schematics

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with the NEC for cable sizing, grounding, conduit/raceway design, low-voltage panels, and underground cable design is preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD , SolidWorks , Solid Edge , or other CAD software
  • Knowledge of MS Office for documentation and reporting
  • Familiarity with MS Project and/or Primavera for project scheduling
  • Understanding of NETA testing standards
  • Preferred experience with MATLAB , Mathcad , ETAP , and/or CAPE for electrical calculations and simulations
