Role reports to: Manager, EHS

Location: This role will work 3 days onsite at our Skillman, NJ location and 2 days onsite at our Summit, NJ location.

Work Location: Fully Onsite

What you will do

The EHS Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise in workplace and product safety, developing health and safety policies, implementing training programs, and conducting hazard assessments and audits:

  • Develop and implement innovative environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe work environment
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety protocols and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address environmental sustainability initiatives
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve EHS processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards and promote safety
  • Lead emergency response planning and training initiatives for the site
  • Conduct risk assessments and root cause analysis to recommend and implement safety solutions
  • Develop, support, and facilitate site EH&S committees/teams to ensure implementation of the EH&S programs.
  • Ability to prepare EH&S permit applications and negotiate conditions. This individual will understand applicable federal, state, and local EHS laws and regulations, standards, codes, and guidelines and interpret requirements to client groups.
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and programs to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Stay updated on new regulations and company policies to ensure alignment with current practices

What we are looking for

  • University/bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or related field
  • 4-6 years of experience in environmental health and safety management
  • 4-6 years of experience in occupational health and safety
  • Knowledge of USEPA, NJDEP, and OSHA regulations.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • EH&S management systems, including ISO 14001 is necessary
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional certification in EHS (e.g. CSP, CIH) preferred
  • Knowledge of hazard assessment techniques and accident investigation
  • Familiarity with emergency response planning and compliance audits
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders

What’s in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$86,700.00 - $122,400.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
