Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of relevant experience and a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, collaborating with project teams, and ensuring that bids are competitive and aligned with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation:
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates.
  • Identify materials, labor, and time requirements for each project.
  1. Bid Preparation:
  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and submit them within deadlines.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and pricing.
  1. Collaboration:
  • Communicate with project managers, architects, and engineers to clarify project scope and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to review and finalize bids.
  1. Project Analysis:
  • Conduct take-offs and quantity surveys using estimation software.
  • Assess potential risks and opportunities associated with each project.
  1. Market Research:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, labor costs, and material prices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  1. Documentation:
  • Maintain records of estimates, proposals, and related documents for future reference.
  • Prepare post-project analysis reports to refine estimation practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools).
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with projects in [specific sectors, e.g., healthcare, retail, or industrial construction].
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
