Job Description

Title: Food Safety & Quality Manager

Location: Grand Prairie TX

Employment Type: Full Time/Direct Hire

The  Food Safety & Quality Manager  will be responsible for  developing, overseeing, and maintaining food safety and food defense protocols in accordance with  American Institute of Baking (AIB/FSNS) Food Distribution Warehouse, Food Defense Plus, and other relevant  third-party audit standards within the  Quality Packaging (Frito Lay) Facilities .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the  Operations Manager
  • Oversees the  Food Defense Program
  • Ensures all tasks outlined in the  Master Cleaning Schedule (MCS)are completed and properly documented
  • Ensures compliance with  cGMP and quality standards throughout the facility
  • Maintains  AIB certification and ensures a minimum score of  965
  • Ensures the facility adheres to  Sedex’s social responsibility guidelines
  • Collaborates with the  Food Safety and QA Supervisor to address challenges, share findings, and propose continuous improvement strategies
  • Manages and updates the  approved chemical list database and oversees the  chemical control program
  • Develops and maintains the  Internal Audit schedule
  • Trains employees on company  policies and procedures
  • Conducts  Root Cause Analysis and implements  Corrective Action Plans
  • Actively participates in  daily staff meetings
  • Serves as a  Safety Committee Member
  • Maintains  First Aid Responder certification and completes necessary continuing education (CE) credits
  • Ensures compliance with the  Control Plan
  • Adheres to  safety regulations and assists in  accident and incident investigations
  • Completes assigned tasks related to  Corrective Action Plans
  • Applies  Lean Manufacturing tools such as  5 Why’s, Fishbone Analysis, Brainstorming, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Ensures  equipment calibration is up to date
  • Conducts  emergency drills as required
  • Follows all company policies and guidelines outlined in the  Employee Handbook
  • Handles additional duties as assigned

  • Internal:  All management teams
  • External:  Third-party auditors

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or  GED equivalent

  • 5 years of experience in a  food manufacturing setting in a  leadership or managerial role

Requirements

  • Some  college coursework preferred

  • Familiarity with  Safety Programs (OSHA, Workers’ Compensation, etc.)

  • Experience in  Quality Assurance Management (including  RCAs, corrective/preventive measures, ISO, AIB, SQF )

  • Knowledge or  certification in Continuous Improvement methodologies such as  Lean or Six Sigma

  • Experience presenting  quality and production performance metrics to customers

  • Previous experience managing a  temporary workforce

  • Strong  written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in  computer applications , including  WMS, MS Office Suite, email, intranet, and file management

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

  • Flexible work schedule with  minimal travel requirements.
