We are currently seeking two experienced and dedicated Safety Professionals to join our team in the Gas & Power Solutions division. As a Safety Professional, you will play a pivotal role in championing CPS Energy’s Safety Programs. Your expertise will be essential in advising, developing strategies, and leading workplace safety initiatives, while promoting a safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety roles, particularly in general industry safety and construction, with an emphasis on risk management and the reduction of workplace injuries, fatalities, and illnesses.

Safety Professional – Gas & Power Solutions

San Antonio, TX

6 Months Contract Possibility of Extension

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the internal safety consultant and champion of Clients Safety Programs.
• Develop strategies and provide guidance to establish risk controls and sustainable business practices.
• Work alongside teams including Safety Committees, Safety Circuit Teams, and Business Unit personnel to execute safety initiatives.
• Assist in fostering a strong Safety Culture across all teams.
• Review and evaluate work environments, design and develop programs and procedures to eliminate or prevent injuries caused by chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
• Conduct workplace inspections and enforce adherence to safety laws and regulations.
• Respond to and investigate workplace accidents and incidents, providing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences and identify process improvements.
• Provide training on safety-related processes and procedures as necessary.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• Proven experience in a safety role with a general industry safety construction background.
• Understanding or experience in behavior-based safety concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a power plant environment.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
• Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) for Construction or General Industry.
