Position Purpose:
Relocation Assistance offered.
Reporting to the President and in accordance with company's standards and guidelines the General Merchandising Manager is responsible for overseeing the purchasing, merchandising, and inventory management of general merchandise categories. The GMM will lead a team of buyers and visual merchandisers to ensure that the product assortment meets customer needs, aligns with company strategy, and drives sales and profitability. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent analytical abilities, and a deep understanding of retail merchandising.
NOTE: This is on-site daily work at our corporate office in our Tifton, GA location.
Required Experience:
•
Bachelor’s degree in interior design, Supply Chain, Retail Management, or Business Administration
•
7 Years of progressive experience in a retail or merchandising environment with at least 5 years of experience in buying.
•
Experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
•
Experience with Supply Chain Management or Purchasing.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
•
Develop and implement merchandising strategies that align with company goals and customer needs.
•
Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to inform product selection and pricing strategies.
•
Set sales, margin, and inventory targets for general merchandise categories.
Product Selection and Sourcing:
•
Oversee the selection and sourcing of merchandise, ensuring a diverse and appealing product assortment.
•
Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best terms, pricing, and quality for products.
•
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
•
Negotiate discounts, freight rates and contracts with vendors
•
Create SKU’s for new product.
•
Establish and manage item pricing to maintain margin levels.
•
Manage dropped and discontinued merchandise levels to achieve targeted turn rates.
