Here’s the work you get to do:

Payroll Processing: Verify timecards and run payroll on a weekly basis, process hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, retro pay, and deductions, ensure compliance with federal taxes, 401K, benefits, garnishments, manage mileage and field reimbursements, handle trimester bonuses, compensation changes, and severance calculations.

Payroll Administration: Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly, manage overtime approvals, child support, and unemployment claims, build and maintain payroll spreadsheets for field compensation, holidays, FMLA, and term tracking, conduct monthly audits and ensure multi-state compliance, own all offboarding steps including payroll and other HR-related processes, and manage gas cards and toll passes issued to employees.

UKG System Management and Analytics: Build and customize payroll allocation reports using UKG's Business Intelligence (BI) module to allocate expenses across departments, projects, or cost centers, integrate and manage HR modules within UKG (UltiPro & Kronos) such as benefits, time and attendance, and onboarding to ensure data consistency and automated workflows, develop and run analytics reports on payroll metrics like deduction trends, overtime distributions, and compliance tracking while extracting raw data for turnover metrics and collaborating with Power BI specialists as needed.

Data and Integration Handling: Handle data imports, exports, and integrations with external systems for seamless operations, configure system settings, workflows, and rules (e.g., tax tables, benefit deductions, security roles), and conduct regular audits and compliance checks using UKG tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Troubleshooting and Optimization: Troubleshoot system problems independently, including researching solutions in UKG's knowledge base and contacting UKG support for advanced issues, and optimizing workforce management features tied to payroll, such as timecard rules and FMLA/holiday tracking, to improve back-office efficiency.

Additional Support: Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes including orientations, HR documentation, and system setup, provide backup for onboarding orientations with occasional day travel to affiliated company locations (no overnights), and assist with HR generalist tasks or administrative projects as needed in this fully on-site role in Gibsonton, FL.

Here’s what makes you a great fit for this role:

  • You have at least 2 years of payroll administration experience.
  • You’re a true UKG expert with proficiency in UltiPro & Kronos, including back-office functions like BI reporting, module integrations, and troubleshooting
  • You have a strong understanding of payroll compliance, multi-state employment laws, and related regulations.
  • You’re advanced in Excel for data analysis and manipulation, with SQL knowledge for querying and reporting being a plus.
  • You have a degree in HR, business, or another field with relevant experience is preferred, but not a deal-breaker so long as you have adequate experience; PHR or SHRM certification is a plus, especially for occasional HR generalist duties like onboarding and offboarding.
  • You’re highly organized, detail-oriented, and excel at time management, with clear and professional communication skills for handling sensitive information.
  • You’re coachable, with a positive problem-solving mindset, adapting well to the fast-paced construction industry while proactively identifying improvements and maintaining optimism under pressure.
