Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated GIS Application Developer to join our team in Lincoln, NE. This role requires on-site work from Monday to Friday (40 hours/week) and may involve occasional after-hours work for application upgrades, administrative testing, or other urgent tasks. Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration: Work closely with team members and customer agencies to resolve service or incident tickets. Consult with peers on application or database issues to ensure effective solutions.
Development: Create scripts and workflows to automate administrative processes. Use your expertise in Python and other scripting languages to support team and agency projects.
Communication: Prepare and deliver clear estimates of time and effort required for projects. Develop training materials and documentation for end-users, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge to effectively utilize our systems.
Project Support: Under general direction, oversee all phases of development and maintenance for assigned applications and scripts. Research system enhancements and perform analysis and design of computer applications.
Technical Expertise: Design, code, test, and document applications and scripts. Provide production support for both simple and complex applications, resolving issues promptly and efficiently.
Mentorship: If applicable, mentor less experienced team members and lead small to medium projects or components of larger initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Geography/GIS, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
Minimum of one year working with scripting languages, APIs, and modules such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Pandas, ArcPy, ArcGIS API, PowerShell, and REST APIs.
One year of experience using Microsoft SQL Enterprise Databases (v2016+) and/or PostgreSQL databases.
At least two years of experience scripting with Python.
Proven experience developing policies and workflows for collaborative environments, as well as creating training and documentation for end users.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise Geodatabases, ArcGIS for JavaScript, and Arcade.
Experience in geographic information management and spatial data standards.
Knowledge of Microsoft Graph, Visual Studio Code, GIT, and Agile development methodologies.
Experience with Azure DevOps, Confluence, and support ticketing applications.
Understanding of GIS technologies and data structures.
Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies.
Additional Information: This position may require occasional work on evenings and weekends based on project demands or urgent change management needs.
