Schedule: Full-time

Start Date: ASAP

Are you a recent college graduate with a strong interest in the legal field and looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a law firm setting? Our client, a well-respected law firm in Columbia, MD, is seeking a Junior Legal Assistant to support their busy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to launch a long-term career in law, ideally over the next 2–3 years.

⚠️ Please note: This role is not a fit for candidates planning to apply to law school within the next two years.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and senior paralegals
  • Draft and proofread legal correspondence and basic legal documents
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files
  • Perform data entry and case tracking using legal software systems
  • Conduct light legal research under supervision
  • Assist with client intake, scheduling, and general office tasks
  • Help prepare materials for hearings, depositions, or closings

Who You Are:

  • A recent college graduate with a strong academic background (any major welcome, though legal studies, political science, or criminal justice is a plus)
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines
  • A clear communicator with strong writing and editing skills
  • Professional, reliable, and eager to learn
  • Comfortable in a team environment and able to take direction
  • Able to make a 2–3 year commitment to the role before considering law school or other graduate programs

Why This Role?

  • Get exposure to real legal work and observe the inner workings of a law firm
  • Build a foundation for a long-term legal career, whether as a paralegal, law school applicant, or legal operations professional
  • Work closely with experienced attorneys and staff who value mentorship and growth

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the legal profession and gain critical experience before taking your next step, we’d love to hear from you.
