Toolmaker / Machinist

Location: Maple Lake, MN

Pay Range: $65,000 to $80,000

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Toolmaker/Machinist to set up and operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate components for molds, tooling, and precision fixtures. This role requires working to close-tolerance specifications using engineering drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions. You may also contribute to prototype development and experimental components.

Position Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED required; two-year degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on machining experience in a non-production/toolroom setting , or a combination of experience and formal vocational training.
• Proficient in reading engineering drawings and layouts .
• Strong understanding of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, indicators).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform precision machining operations such as milling, turning, boring, drilling, threading, polishing, and grinding .
• Fabricate tooling and components to extremely tight tolerances, including complex or non-standard geometries.
• Set up and operate high-end CNC mills and CNC EDM equipment (wire and ram).
• Use micrometers, dial calipers, height gauges, and indicators to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, verbal instructions, and sample parts .
• Build gages, fixtures, molds, and machine parts used in both production and inspection applications.
• Conduct mold measurement and fitting as needed.
• Maintain high standards of productivity, accuracy, and quality in all work performed.
• Practice safe work habits and maintain a clean, organized work area .
• Perform additional related duties to support efficient department operations
