Job Description

Responsibilities

The payroll specialist will be responsible for various tasks to ensure seamless and accurate payroll processes, employee data management, and departmental coordination. Core duties include:

  1. Overseeing end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees.
  2. Inputting employee data, including garnishments, vacation days, deductions, address changes, direct deposits, and other updates into Paylocity.
  3. Managing new hire setup post-onboarding.
  4. Safeguarding payroll operations by maintaining confidentiality and securing sensitive information.
  5. Conducting daily driver route board data entry (requires proficiency in 10-key skills).
  6. Collaborating closely with Operations teams, including Dispatch, driver supervisors, and managers.
  7. Assisting accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) teams with landfill ticket research.
  8. Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies by analyzing relevant information.
  9. Performing employment verifications as needed.
  10. Serving as a backup for weekly payroll processing for hourly employees and drivers.
  11. Handling employee inquiries professionally and efficiently.
  12. Participating in special projects as assigned.

Candidates should meet the following qualifications:

  1. Minimum high school diploma or GED, with 3–5 years of general payroll processing experience.
  2. Ability to work independently and under direct supervision.
  3. Strong communication skills for collaboration with employees and other departments.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with emphasis on Excel and data management.
