Job Description

Pharmacy Technician

Location: Portland, ME – 100% onsite

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Pay: $19.22–$24.88/hour

Type: Temporary assignment

Interview Process: Onsite interview with hiring team

Requirements: Active Maine Pharmacy Technician License or ability to obtain before start (2-day process, $62 fee, candidate responsibility)

Background Check: Required

We’re seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician for a back-office role with minimal patient interaction. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, process-driven environment. No prior pharmacy experience is required—training is provided for the right candidate with the willingness to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate patient profiles, including demographics, insurance, and allergies
  • Enter prescription orders with precision and ensure timely fulfillment
  • Answer patient inquiries about pricing, product availability, and coverage; escalate clinical questions to pharmacists as needed
  • Support various pharmacy functions, including data entry, filling, shipping, inventory, and call center tasks
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Communicate with internal medical staff regarding refills and non-clinical medication questions
  • Assist with purchasing to help reduce costs for patients and the organization

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active Maine Pharmacy Technician License (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Previous pharmacy or medical experience preferred, but not required
