Job Title: Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher

Location: Multiple Sites
Caseload: Minimum of 30 students (High School & Adult Students, ages 18-22)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher to provide specialized physical education instruction to high school and adult students (ages 18-22) with disabilities. This full-time position will require travel between multiple sites, working with a caseload of at least 30 students. The ideal candidate will have experience in educational, instructional, cultural, and social programs typically found in a comprehensive high school setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized physical education programs that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Assess students' motor skills and develop appropriate adapted physical education activities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and support personnel to integrate APE services effectively.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings.
- Provide modifications and accommodations for students in physical education settings.
- Utilize various instructional strategies to promote student engagement and skill development.
- Maintain communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress.
- Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters student growth and development.
Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following credential requirements:
- Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education with an APE Authorization OR
- Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with an APE Authorization OR
- Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Must complete 12 semester units of physical education coursework, including a minimum of 3 semester units in both Kinesiology and Motor Development, along with an APE Authorization).
