REMOTE FREIGHT AGENT

A freight agent connects carriers and shippers to move freight. A freight agent is an independent contractor who supports a freight company and works for a freight broker . Freight agents work directly with customers as liaisons and sales agents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Coordinate and manage the shipment of goods and cargo for domestic and international clients.
* Communicate with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for shipping arrangements.
* Prepare and process necessary documentation including bills of lading, shipping manifests, customs documentation, and other required paperwork.
* Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations governing the transportation of goods, including customs, import/export laws, and hazardous materials regulations.
* Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
* Coordinate with carriers to arrange pickup and delivery schedules, ensuring that all parties involved are informed of any changes or updates.
* Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries, resolving complaints, and providing updates on shipment status.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation of all shipments, including tracking numbers, delivery confirmations, and any relevant documentation for accounting and auditing purposes.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance and provide expert advice and recommendations to clients regarding shipping options, costs, and timelines.

REQUIRED SKILLS

* Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring all documentation is completed correctly.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders.
* Proficient computer skills, including experience with shipping software, MS Office, and data entry.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to anticipate and resolve shipment-related issues.
* Knowledge of transportation regulations and customs procedures to ensure compliance.
* Strong customer service orientation and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and carriers.
* Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with other team members and stakeholders.
* Strong geographical knowledge to identify the most efficient shipping routes and transport options.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and import/export laws.
* Familiarity with logistics and supply chain management concepts.
* Proficiency in using shipping software and MS Office applications.
* High School Diploma
* Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
* Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Must be able to obtain necessary certifications or licenses as required by local or national regulations
