Location: Boston Area, Massachusetts (hybrid + 25% travel)

Salary: $155,000 base salary + annual performance-based bonus

Brightsmith are currently working with a $700M+ national leader in renewable natural gas (RNG) . Backed by a global investment fund, they convert organic waste into renewable energy through their patented anaerobic digestion technology, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting regenerative agriculture.

They have a design-build-own-operate model and are currently in rapid growth mode across North America. As part of their expansion, they are introducing a new line of business within their sales team and are looking for a Retail Sales Operations Manager to spearhead the development of processes, procedures, and emergency response for high-priority retail accounts.

Position Summary:

The Retail Sales Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of efficient procedures and protocols for managing retail clients. This includes emergency response coordination, creating processes for waste program management, and developing best practices to ensure the success of the company's retail accounts in the food and beverage sector.

This role will be highly collaborative, working closely with the logistics and sales teams to handle urgent situations and scale retail operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emergency Response Management: Coordinate emergency response efforts in the event of incidents (e.g., truck accidents, spills) to ensure quick resolution and minimal service disruption.
  • Process Development: Develop and implement procedures and protocols to streamline retail account management, including new client opportunities and emergency response situations.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with logistics, sales, operations, and IT teams to ensure smooth management of retail accounts, waste collection, and transportation processes.
  • High-Stress Situation Management: Lead the team in managing urgent client needs, ensuring quick, effective responses to critical incidents.
  • Retail Account Management: Oversee client interactions and support retail sales team efforts to secure new business while maintaining strong relationships with existing retail clients in the food and beverage industry.
  • SOP Development & Training: Create and roll out Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics teams and retail operations. Develop training programs to ensure all team members are aligned with customer expectations and company standards.
  • Operational Efficiency: Continuously monitor and improve operational efficiency, making data-driven decisions to enhance service delivery.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Transportation/Retail Logistics Experience, ideally within the waste management, food or beverage industry.
  • Experience in Emergency Response: Strong background in managing emergency response operations, particularly within transportation, logistics, or large-scale retail environments.
  • Retail Operations Experience: Proven experience managing retail accounts and collaborating with haulers, waste management companies, or logistics teams in the food and beverage or waste services sectors.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management, ideally within high-volume, high-pressure environments.
  • Start-Up Mentality: Comfortable in a high-stress and fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with a history of adapting to new challenges and building systems from the ground up.
  • Financial Acumen: Knowledge of P&L management and financial principles to manage budgets and improve profitability.

What They Offer:

  • Competitive Benefits: Health, vision, and wellness benefits, along with a 401(k) plan.
  • Quarterly Bonus: Quarterly incentive bonuses in addition to base salary.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): Generous PTO policy.
  • Remote Work: Flexibility to work remotely, with occasional compensated travel for client meetings and conferences.
  • Phone Expense Reimbursement: Reimbursement for business-related phone expenses.
