Job Description

Cornerstone Controls is seeking an experienced outside Sales Engineer – Reliability Solutions for our Michigan territory.

Essential Function:

Cornerstone Controls, Inc. is an Emerson manufacturer’s representative for Automation, Control and Reliability products and services. We are 1 of 18 Emerson Impact Partners in North America. Cornerstone Controls is an Employee-Owned Stock Plan (ESOP) company and has been in business for 90 years. We work with industrial manufacturing clients in areas such as metals & mining, pulp & paper, commercial power, life science, chemical and refining. As a Sales Engineer – Reliability Solutions you will need to be a high-energy, competitive, and self-motivated sales professional who thrives on solving customer challenges and driving results. You will be responsible for understanding customer needs and providing solution selling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Sales Growth – Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships.
  • Sell Value, Not Just Products – Understand customer pain points and clearly articulate how our solutions drive desired outcomes.
  • Be an Active Listener & Problem Solver – Engage deeply with customers, ask insightful questions, and develop tailored solutions that meet their needs.
  • Leverage Your Technical & Commercial Skills – Bridge the gap between engineering and sales to deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Own the Process & Outcome – Take full responsibility for your sales pipeline, from prospecting to closing, ensuring measurable success.
  • Drive sales of our Reliability Portfolio which includes Reliability Engineering, Training, Diagnostic Software, Predictive Monitoring Solutions, Intelligent Sensors and Services.
  • Work closely with our existing Automation, Controls, and Emerson inside and outside sales teams and SMEs.

  • Work closely with reliability service team

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in industrial sales, engineering, or reliability solutions or as technical sales engineer.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an Engineering discipline.
  • A highly competitive and dynamic personality with a drive to win.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills—someone who is super outgoing and naturally builds relationships.
  • A deep curiosity about customer challenges and a proactive approach to solving them.
  • Strong ability to articulate value and influence buying decisions.
  • Self-motivated with a bias for action and results.
