Position Overview:

Onward Search is seeking two dedicated and compassionate School Social Workers to join an elementary school or high school in St. Clair County, MI . These full-time, in-person roles start in early March and run through the end of the school year, with the potential for renewal for the next academic year.

Details You Should Know:

• Location: In-person (no hybrid/remote options)
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
• Hours: 35 hours/week
• Grade Level: Elementary (K-5) or High School
• Elementary Caseload: 25-30 students, including those in a mild Cognitive Impairment (CI) program
• High School Caseload: 35-40 students

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
• Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans tailored to students' needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create supportive learning environments.
• Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and crisis intervention strategies.
• Assist in the IEP process, including assessments, goal-setting, paperwork, and active participation in IEP meetings.
• Monitor and document student progress, providing updates and recommendations to staff and families.
• Advocate for students and connect families with community resources and support services.
• Conduct classroom and school-wide social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives to foster a positive school culture.

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan School Social Worker (SSW) License or eligibility to obtain one
• LLMSW (Limited License Master of Social Work) may be considered
