Job Title: Senior PostgreSQL DBA

• At WaferWire Cloud Technologies, we are a dynamic team of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) committed to building resilient, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a seasoned PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team and help us elevate our database operations and infrastructure automation.

What You’ll Do:

• As a PostgreSQL DBA, you will play a critical role in designing, deploying, and maintaining our PostgreSQL environments. You’ll work closely with our SRE team to ensure our systems are robust, secure, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL databases in production and development environments.
• Build and deploy containerized database images using Docker (and optionally Kubernetes).
• Configure, tune, and maintain PostgreSQL instances for optimal performance and reliability.
• Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
• Monitor database health and performance, and proactively address issues.
• Collaborate with SREs to ensure high availability and disaster recovery strategies are in place.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Implement and manage robust backup, recovery, and security protocols.
• Support database-related incidents, service requests, and change management processes.

Required Qualifications:

• 8–10 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA or in a similar role.
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, replication, clustering, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with database monitoring tools and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with other database systems (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) is a plus.
• Certifications in PostgreSQL or cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate).

Compensation / Salary Range: The typical pay for this role across the U.S. is: $90,000 - $110,000/Yearly. Factors that may affect pay within or outside of this range may include but not limited to geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
