Software Engineer, Special Projects

We're looking for an AI-native Software Engineer to join our team. You'll build systems that combine web technologies with LLMs to create new types of user interactions. This role requires someone comfortable working with ambiguity and excited about building products that haven't been built before.

What You'll Do

• Build AI integrations using modern language models with focus on multi-modal interactions
• Develop streaming architectures for real-time AI responses
• Create secure code generation and sandboxed execution systems
• Implement data preparation strategies for optimal AI performance
• Build type-safe, extensible systems for AI operations
• Create responsive UI components that handle streaming updates

Technical Requirements

Core Expertise (Must Have)

• React & TypeScript: Strong understanding of React patterns, hooks, and TypeScript
• State Management: Production experience with modern state management
• AI/LLM Integration: 2+ years building LLM-powered applications
• Streaming Architectures: Experience with SSE, WebSockets, or similar

Strong Plus

• Multi-Modal AI: Experience with vision + text models
• Tool Calling: Understanding of structured AI output patterns
• Local-First Applications: Building offline-capable applications
• Code Generation: Experience with safe code execution
• Complex Integration: Working with sophisticated third-party libraries

AI Engineering Skills

• Prompt Engineering: Structuring data and prompts for AI models
• Context Management: Understanding what information AI models need
• Error Handling: Building systems that handle AI unpredictability
• Streaming UX: Creating interfaces for progressive content
• Security: Sandboxing and validation for AI-generated code

What We're Looking For

• You've shipped AI-powered products to production
• You care about performance, optimization, and user experience
• You write clear, well-documented code
• You can own features from design to deployment

Experience Level

• 2-5 years of software engineering experience
• At least 1 year building AI-powered applications
• Track record of shipping features independently
