Job Title: Merchant – Sam’s Club Account (Based in Bentonville, AR)

Location: Bentonville, AR (Hybrid or Onsite)

Position Summary

As a Merchant overseeing our client’s Sam’s Club account, you will be instrumental in driving category growth and profitability. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of merchandising, supplier relationships, and omni-channel retailing. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet the needs of Sam’s Club members both in-club and online.

Key Responsibilities

  • Category Strategy Development: Establish and execute comprehensive category strategies to drive sales and margin growth.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.
  • Assortment Planning: Curate product assortments that meet member needs, leveraging market trends and data analytics.
  • Pricing and Promotion: Develop pricing strategies and promotional plans to maximize profitability and member value.
  • Omni-Channel Integration: Ensure seamless integration of product offerings across in-club and online platforms, enhancing the overall member experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including marketing, supply chain, and operations to support category initiatives.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor category performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in merchandising, buying, or category management, preferably within the retail or consumer goods industry.
  • Previous experience as a merchant of consumable products is essential, with experience in the laundry and cleaning category an asset.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Sam’s Club or similar wholesale/club retailers.
  • Familiarity with private label product development.
  • Understanding of supply chain logistics and inventory management.
