Switchboard Operator

Location: Knoxville, TN

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Pay: $16-17/HR

Position Summary:

We are seeking a professional and courteous Switchboard Operator to join our client's team in Knoxville, TN. This role is responsible for managing incoming calls, routing them to the appropriate departments, and providing exceptional customer service to callers and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate a multi-line telephone switchboard system to answer, screen, and forward calls.
• Provide information to callers and take messages as needed.
• Monitor and respond to emergency communication protocols.
• Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during high call volumes.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, visitor check-ins, and mail distribution.
• Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in all communications.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a receptionist, call center, or switchboard role preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure.
• Proficiency with phone systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
