Job Description

Traffic & Mobility Consultants is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Traffic Analyst or Transportation Planner with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in transportation planning or traffic engineering and be passionate about improving mobility, safety, and infrastructure through data-driven analysis and planning. The Traffic Analyst or Transportation Planner is responsible for providing support in the preparation of transportation planning and traffic engineering studies and traffic-related design plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct traffic operations analyses, capacity studies, and transportation impact studies
  • Develop transportation plans for roadway networks, public transit, sidewalks, trails and active transportation facilities
  • Collect and analyze traffic data, turning movement counts, and travel time studies
  • Use traffic operations software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM) to assess traffic conditions and recommend improvements
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and technical documentation
  • Assist with writing grants for state and federal funding opportunities
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and public agencies on transportation planning efforts
  • Participate in public meetings or stakeholder engagement as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in traffic analysis, transportation planning, or related field
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, or similar software
  • Experience with GIS
  • Familiarity with traffic data collection methods and interpretation
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations
  • Knowledge of land use planning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) passed highly preferred
  • Experience working with private and public agencies or municipalities
  • Proficiency in GIS and/or CAD tools is a plus
