Summary of Position
The Workforce Development and Training Director, under general direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for the development and oversite of AGC’s workforce development and training programs while ensuring overall quality of trainings.
Essential Functions
Design, administer, and implement a continuous process for determining educational needs of the membership.
Analyze education and training needs of the membership and identify workshops, seminars, symposia, and other related offerings which meet needs of members.
Maintains records of participation in the continuing education process.
Design, administer, and implement AGC workforce development initiatives, including the We Build Alaska campaign.
Develop the procedure for demonstrating return on investment and track and report the outcome measurements while also demonstrating cost analysis of implementation, assessment of program’s effectiveness and alignment with the overall strategic direction of AGC.
Direct AGCs school-to-career activities and works with other industry organizations to provide potential workers and their influencers to promote and direct candidates to careers in construction.
Interacts with state and local Department of Labor leaders, training and apprenticeship programs, and staff to facilitate a prominent role for construction education and promotion in public educational programs and delivery systems.
Partner with Membership Director and Events/Communication Director to create a communication plan for marketing training, workforce recruitment efforts and scholarship programs.
Staff lead for AGC’s Training and Workforce Development Committee, Safety Committee, and Construction Industry Progress Fund.
Oversee training for Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) and Construction Quality Management (CQM) and all other in-person and virtual training programs.
Voting member on CESCL Anchorage Storm Water Steering Committee and Instructor Sub-Committee.
Collaborate with applicable academic institutions and training partners to increase the likelihood of student/incumbent success.
Liaison to University of Alaska Construction Management Club, Advisory Committees and Endowment Committees.
In collaboration with Membership Director is AGC’s liaison to the Construction Leadership Committee.
Oversee and collaborate with Events and Communications Director, to develop and plan content for regularly published newsletter & social media channels.
Evaluates training materials to meet the standards required by Alaska Storm Water Steering Committee (AK-CESCL), USACE (CQM), and other training programs as assigned.
Schedules and coordinates all training activities.
Secures qualified instructors, adequate facilities, needed equipment, textbooks, workbooks, and other training materials.
Design publications and other marketing materials for all training.
Participates in and coordinates participation in the various Career and Job Fair opportunities.
Monitors Davis-Bacon wage decisions and maintains copies of the current labor contracts.
Participates and or monitors industry annual wage & salary surveys.
Assists other staff in the Annual Convention preparations
Regularly conducts membership outreach by visiting members at their offices and job sites.

Knowledge of the Alaska construction industry, structure of the membership and industry’s training needs.

Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in organizational development, education, program management or related discipline, supplemented by five years’ experience in curriculum development, and administering educational curriculum, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience in workforce development, training, and supervisory or mentor experience is highly preferred.
