Job Description

Basic Functions and Scope of Job:

As part of the Quality team, the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for working cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams. The SQE will monitor and drive continuous improvement activities across the organization, acting as a quality liaison between internal and external stakeholders. The role also includes providing technical guidance on process improvements and supporting the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) based on ISO-9001:2015 and other industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Corrective/Preventive Actions : Assist and lead corrective/preventive action processes (CARs, SCARs, RMAs, 8Ds, etc.) for suppliers, customers, and internal processes. Perform root-cause analysis for product/process issues.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, and Receiving Inspection teams to define and support requirements for receiving inspection, measurement, and testing of raw materials and assemblies.
  • Process Evaluation & Improvement : Evaluate and analyze production processes to improve product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Quality Metrics : Identify, implement, and monitor quality metrics for incoming and outgoing products, as well as internal manufacturing processes.
  • Statistical Process Control : Implement statistical process control and other quality measures.
  • Supplier Management : Assist the Purchasing department with supplier qualification and ongoing evaluation.
  • APQP Knowledge : Utilize APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) processes.
  • Training Support : Collaborate with HR to define and support employee training related to the QMS.
  • ISO Certification Support : Help maintain 3rd-party ISO-9001:2015 certification.
  • Auditing : Conduct internal and supplier audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Training : Train inspectors and other staff members on Acceptability Standards.
  • Other Duties : Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field (or equivalent training/experience).
  • 2-5 years of supplier quality experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of the ISO-9001:2015 standard.
  • Proficiency in MS Word/Excel for creating and maintaining inspection logs, reports, and other quality documents.
  • Experience with statistical inspection processes and requirements.

  • Skilled in identifying and documenting supplier quality deficiencies and ensuring corrective/preventive actions are effective.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills and problem-solving abilities.
