Job Description

We need a high-level, sharp-as-all-get-out Controller to step in for one of our long-standing clients in Lakewood, WA ! This candidate would be working 100% on site with the potential to convert to a permanent role.

As the Interim Controller, you would be responsible for:

  • Rolling up your sleeves to take full ownership of the accounting function

  • Leading and mentoring a team of 4 (AP, AR, HR/Payroll, Contract Admin)

  • Running the full close process: month-end, year-end, and everything in between

  • Managing all things GAAP with accuracy and integrity

  • Partnering directly with the President and their external audit team

  • Driving process improvements and internal controls

  • Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

  • Handling ad hoc financial analysis and strategic input

  • Acting as the point person for all things accounting-because no one else is doing it right now!

To be considered for this role, you would need to have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Controller (or similar small company leadership experience)

  • A BA/BS in Accounting

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)

  • The ability to lead without hand-holding and create structure from scratch

  • Jonas Construction software experience is a bonus

  • CPA or CMA is a nice-to-have, but not required

You'll be joining a company that's been around since the early '80s and has deep roots in the Puget Sound community. The team is small and dedicated, but this is a pivotal time-you'll truly be the backbone of the organization moving forward.
