Job Description

Data Engineer & BI Analyst

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and driven Data Engineer and BI Analyst to design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines, business intelligence (BI) solutions, and analytical insights across the Microsoft ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure Data Services, Power BI, SQL Server, and cloud-native data engineering practices. This role bridges engineering and business analytics — enabling high-value decision-making through well-architected data solutions and visualization.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Engineering (60%)

  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
  • Develop efficient ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., APIs, SQL Servers, Cosmos DB, Performance and Monitoring Logs).
  • Manage, optimize, and monitor large datasets stored in Azure SQL Database, Synapse, or Dataverse.
  • Develop data models and implement data governance, metadata management, security, and compliance standards
  • Collaborate with Business Leaders, Architects and Cloud Engineers to design end-to-end data and reporting solutions.

BI Analytics and Reporting (40%)

  • Design and develop impactful, intuitive Power BI dashboards, paginated reports, and self-service BI tools for business stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into data models, KPIs, and reporting metrics.
  • Leverage Power Query (M), DAX, and Dataflows for effective data transformation and modeling.
  • Optimize reports for performance and scalability (incremental refresh, composite models, direct query, etc.).
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and deliver actionable insights to business, product, and operations teams.
  • Promote data literacy and enable business users to access data-driven insights via Power BI Service and Azure Analytics Services.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, or similar role.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, SQL Database
  • Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query (M)
  • SQL development (T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning)
  • Understanding of cloud architecture and best practices within Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with Azure Active Directory and RBAC for securing datasets.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema, normalized/denormalized models).
  • Experience with Agile DevOps practices, version control, and deployment automation in Azure.

Preferred:

  • Microsoft Certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)).
  • Experience with Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, or Synapse Spark Pools.
  • Exposure in Common Data Service (Dataverse).
  • Knowledge of Python, Javascript, React/R, Powershell for data transformation tasks.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and API-based data ingestion.
