Stross Wess Cutcher & Levin LLP is a prestigious law firm specializing in family law services for high-net-worth individuals and families. Committed to providing exceptional legal support, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Paralegal to join our growing team.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, full-time Paralegal with at least two (2) years of family law experience or three (3) years of civil litigation or law office experience. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist attorneys with depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trial preparation
  • Assist attorneys in drafting pleadings, declarations, memoranda of points and authorities, trial briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and correspondence
  • Review, analyze, and summarize client financial records and other documents and prepare declarations of disclosure
  • Perform legal research on relevant case issues as needed, draft research memoranda, and advise attorneys on research findings
  • Communicate in-person and via email, telephone, and/or video conference with clients and prospective clients, witnesses, experts, court clerks, and others
  • Prepare subpoenas, Judicial Council and other forms, and other case-critical documents
  • Organize, track, build, and maintain client files
  • Efficient, competent use of the Firm’s law practice management software (Sage Timeslips), as well as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Essential Forms, and Westlaw
  • File and serve pleadings, discovery, and other documents
  • Maintain attorney calendars to track deadlines in accordance with the Code of Civil Procedure, Family Law Codes, and the Rules of Court
  • Schedule client appointments, monitor calendars, and keep attorneys and clients informed of scheduled court dates
  • Answer phones and perform other miscellaneous administrative duties as necessary
  • Conduct initial intakes and conflict checks for potential clients as necessary
  • Work full-time (and occasional overtime) to meet deadlines
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, including in-office when requested
  • Work professionally and cooperatively with others
  • Comply with all Firm policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent grammar and editing skills
  • Organized and methodical, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Experience using law practice management software, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Essential Forms, Sage Timeslips, and E-filing/E-service programs
  • Knowledge of local court rules and proceedings
  • Ability to work full-time (and sometimes overtime) from the office, as necessary
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer and telephone for prolonged hours
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds
