Job Description

Position Overview:

The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of product quality, with a primary focus on Quality Control (60%) and Quality Assurance (40%) . This individual will work closely with both internal teams and external laboratories to maintain product integrity, regulatory compliance, and ensure a safe manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all quality control activities, including in-house testing and external lab coordination, for ice cream production.
  • Manage and mentor a team of four QC technicians , ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in daily operations.
  • Manage documentation, reporting, and regulatory compliance activities for the remainder of the workday.
  • Oversee the outsourcing of daily samples to external labs, reviewing and interpreting results from five different laboratories to support production decisions.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production, and R&D teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform internal audits and validations to maintain facility compliance with FDA and food safety standards.
  • Support external lab collaboration initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate communication of test results and corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of quality control and assurance experience in food manufacturing; experience in dairy or ice cream manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of QC testing, food safety protocols (HACCP, GMP, SQF, etc.), and regulatory standards.
  • Experience managing or supervising a quality team within a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to review lab reports critically and communicate findings effectively to internal stakeholders.
  • Skilled in both hands-on laboratory work and quality management system documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
