Sr. Non-QM Underwriter

Quick Overview:

• We have multiple Clients throughout the U.S. with upcoming Underwriting needs. This includes Conventional, Commercial, Government, and Non-QM. This posting is not for one specific role, as we will keep you informed on multiple needs that may be a fit.
• The salary range and other incentives are dependent upon the Level of Experience, Clients location, Seniority level of the role, and other Client factors

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Underwrite Non-QM loans originated through Wholesale and Retail sales channels.
• Analyze credit and credit reports, independent of scoring systems (AUS), to confirm loan eligibility.
• Analyze income, asset, credit, appraisal, title, and all other documents in the file in order to render a credit decision and meet company and Investor requirements.
• Analyze exceptions and rejections and recommend alternative mortgage products or solutions better suited to the loan applicant.
• Ensure federal, state, and company requirements are met through the underwriting process.
• Responsible for reviewing and analyzing loans and making credit decisions based on guidelines set by Company and affiliated Aggregators. Underwriters are familiar with federal, state, and company requirements, compliance laws, and lending regulations.
• Request supplemental information/documentation as necessity dictates. Recognize risk factors that may compromise overall quality of loan file.
• Examine transaction matrix, internal, and investor overlays to ensure compliance with investor guidelines.
• Meet company requirements for service level agreements and other key performance indicators, including quantity and quality.
• Manage individual pipeline on a daily basis, including initial package submissions and the resubmittal of conditions.
• Maintain current and fluid knowledge of Investor guidelines.
• Communicate effectively and engage proactively with internal and external partners.

Background / Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Wholesale Non-QM Underwriting experience is required
• Comprehensive ability to understand, analyze, and apply mortgage underwriting guidelines with strong understanding of compliance regulations
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
• Proven ability to be consistent, dependable and accurate in carrying out responsibilities toward the goal of a successful conclusion with respect to each loan being underwritten
• Demonstrated aptitude to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to changing situations
• Ability to use computer and job-related software including (but not limited to) Encompass, and Windows/Microsoft Office products
